You wont be disappointed with Kaya Toast at YY Kafei Dian
Has the perfect ambience for the complete kopi set experience.
Great place to get local food at good value. Surrounded by high-end offices, you'll find a lot of locals grabbing breakfast and lunch here! Really enjoyed our meal!
Super expensive! Coffee, breads, chicken rice are good except this... Hainanese Pork Chop (small) at S$10... OMG! This old heritage coffeshop famous of their amazing coffee and breads, always affordable and authentic Asian gourmets. But not all... S$8 max I will pay for this pork chop meal. Not $10. Probably $5-6 will be more reasonable. What do you think if the plate of chicken rice only cost you $4. And this in $10🤔🙄
Decent Singaporean style breakfast which you can order soft boil eggs, kaya toast and a hot drink such as tea or coffee. There is a fried noodle and beehoon station which you can try if you want to have a more fulfiling breakfast with sides like sunny up egg, drumlets, luncheon meat etcPopular with Japanese tourists and they are very early, so you gotta be early. Opens from 730am daily.
Very disappointed. Service at the chicken store was rude & sarcastic. And chicken taste below expectations, meat is dry.
5 stars just for the coffee - it's so good! The other must try it's the soft bun with kaya & butter. Bread is soft yet not overly airy. The crumbs falling onto the plate after that first bite is pure heaven 😂
Nice old school breakfast kaya bun and chicken rice.
Kaya toast was fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Super yummy! Have it with the milk tea and you have one of the best local breakfast experiences in Singapore!
Tasty Hainanese Chicken rice. Chicken is tender. Good old fashioned style coffee served here. Good and prompt service.
All the food taste excellent, arrived before 8am, it already queue up wait for store opening. Rice noodle taste good and texture is al denti, Hon Fan noodle wok flavour good. Kaya bun must try.
Nice Chicken Rice.Last time, we can get free flow of chili and ginger sauce. But now, have to specially ask for it. Ordered half chicken, but only give 2 chili serving. When asking, only 1 ginger serving was given. As a regular, I am not very happy.
If you want a local coffee shop experience, this is it. The buns they serve, for the kaya toast, are made inhouse and taste really fresh - must try. They tend to get a bit crowded during breakfast and lunch times so make sure you bring your 'chopping' tissues. Also, given they are a small, probably family run, business, they accept only cash payments.
Decently priced kopitiam conveniently located near our hotel. Standard selection of breakfast offerings. The half-boiled eggs and kaya toast were nicely done. The nasi lemak was forgettable.
Great breakfast, home-made Kaya bun!
Morning must have hot coffee, come by this place for nice hot coffee, butter kaya toast bun, fried white bee hoon with curry chicken, must try out their different kueh. Over weekends there will be long Q for breakfast. This place also have chicken rice for lunch n others dishes. 😋😋😋😋😋
Loved their claypot horfun. Will always eat it every time we are here!Best for a cool weather!
The toast legit solid. Sadly they don't sell plain bread to bring home.
Wonderful place with nice food and clean environment. Highly recommended.
Love the soft Kaya-Butter bun ..
The claypot noodle is nice. Donut has the old school feel
Great place for a classic Singapore breakfast of Kaya toast, eggs & coffee. There's certainly a strong crowd during breakfast and lunch so be prepared to wait for both a table and food during peak hours. But at $4 for a breakfast set, YY is hard to beat for its delicious food, consistency & value.
Popular place for breakfast beehoon and toast and eggs.Coffee is consistently good.Toast is thick and soft, could be toasted just prior to serving.Bee hoon is pretty good, not best, chilli is good.Havent tried their chicken rice.
Traditional coffee shop in SG. Good chicken rice and local dishes served here.
They dont even deserve one star, really. The chicken rice, is worst than those you get at a foodcourt. The female employees were friendly. The bespectacled uncle who was in charged with prepping your chicken rice, please stay away if you do not want your day to be ruined.
Love the traditional Hainanese feel to this place. They have an understated chicken rice station that serves one of the best chicken rice IMHO. Chicken is well seasoned with lovely fragrant and tasty sauce and the rice is aromatic and not greasy - perfectly done. They also serve a wide range of Chinese food and of course, their famous Hainanese pork chop. Food is fresh and delicious and arrives quickly, churned out like clockwork from the kitchen. While ordering is done at the counter and the queue can be pretty long, things generally move steadily and you won’t have to wait too long. Amazing, considering the large crowd at peak hours. Coffee and tea are also done to good local standards. The staff are efficient and get things done in the background without too much fuss.
Good place for coffee and take a break in a cosy coffee shop
I visited YY Kafei for breakfast. I can vouch for their Kaya Toast. Their service is fast. The place is clean. Plus they make their own bread!!
Never disappoint! Their soft fluffy bread is a must-have! Service & turnover is quick
Good traditional food. Gets crowded early so may have to wait. Soft and delicious buns
Renovated bright and clean environment. Hainanese Chicken Rice and Coffee are nice. Price consider reasonable location in Town area.
Indisputably the BEST chicken rice in Singapore. Traditional breakfast is such a delight to have too. Yuan-yang c kosong is pure bliss.
Well, the queue was pretty bearable on a Sat afternoon. The kaya buns and drinks were good. The chicken rice and the kueh is not worth the price. The chicken rice was meh 🙄 and the kueh was small and rather bland. $8 for taugeh dish is nonsensical 🤦🏽♀️. Anyway good spot for bfast or tea time. Not for lunch no.
The chicken rice is tasty. And after dinner we had coffee and tea and with tge all time favourite toast bun with kaya and butter spread. Yummy!
Coffee not bad, bun very nice must order
Nice place to stop over for coffee and bun. The kaya butter bun is very soft on the inside n crispy outside. Goes well with their coffee too! Truly Nanyang style.
Good chicken rice. Chicken was tender, rice had a good grainy texture whilst still being flavourful.
Known for its coffee...also have a big following on its breakfast items...the bee hoon mee with an otah and egg cost 2.50 which i guess is decent for CBD area...tasty too...
Try the toasted buns and the local pastries. They bake the buns themselves! If u r there for lunch or dinner, try the chicken rice. Chicken rice is the common signature dish with YY, and its two other neighbours (Chin Chin and Yet Con). All three have been around for many years. Enjoy the rustic ambience, especially in the morning and early evening.
Coffee and bun, with kaya and butter is great. The chicken rice is also good. But the guy who cut and chop chicken is very grumpy, full of frustration (as if the whole world has step on his toe). Poor customer service.....Food wise, highly recommended....parking is a problem!
A great place to dine. Chicken rice and kueh kueh are just the right thing to feel your calling tummy
Visited this coffee shop with my colleague after meeting. I thought it was just a normal coffee shop like many others. To my surprise, there were many people queuing to take order. With my curiosity, I joined the queue and looking around what are the items most people order. In the end, I order a few dishes and 2 cups of coffee. These 2 cups of coffee reminds me of the true traditional hainanese coffee which I missed many years ago. In additional, the bun is freshly baked in the coffee shop and it is hot while serving with kaya and butter, which is crispy. What I can say is Must try!
Solid Chinese food. No complaints, good price. Cheap and cheerful.
Good and cheap (affordable) local food. No frills very informal atmosphere.
Love their traditional Hainanese style coffee and kaya bun 👍
Affordable rates. Braised pork and hot plate tofu is the best.
Kaya Bun is very delicious, good texture. Kaya is different to other shops.Coffee is not the best but already good.Lot of breakfast choices, very enjoy.
Fast service, decent serving size and quality of food. Their in-house buns, either with kaya-butter or peanut butter are worth the queue. Do visit this cafe during non-peak hours (usually other than lunch tiem) when the queue is reasonable, then you get to enjoy your orders served promptly, and without people 'chasing you away'.
Bustling and lively place that attracts the lunch time office crowd. Go early before 12 noon on weekdays to get seats especially if you are in a group. Weekends morning have special bee hoon and noodles that are affordable and taste amazing, be prepared to wait as there is a queue before it even open for business.Their chicken rice , toasted bread buns and clay pot noodles are a big hit with the regulars. They also offer a delectable range of kuehs for you to bring back and enjoy with tea in your office.Lovely place with nice vintage Chinese coffee shop furniture. Highly recommended if you have foreign friends coming to visit to bring to.
Onevof the better kopitiam in Singapore with the 50/60s feel. They sell cakes in the morning and is a must try with the good old hainanise kopi.
The food there is definitely a must go. Especially, the chicken rice and curry fish head. The chicken is super fresh and the curry fish head is that spicy so kids will be able to eat it.
